Cody McArthur began his life with horses at the age of 9. Kilties Gladness gave Cody his first glimpse of the horse show lifestyle. At that time weekends were spent traveling around Alberta, Canada in search of red ribbons at Pony Club horse shows. Nearly a quarter of a century later Cody is a fierce competitor in both the cutting and working cowhorse arenas, both north and south of the 49th parallel. Cody has competed in numerous events throughout his life, everything from english to western. These days Cody has dedicated himself to starting colts, showing and more importantly teaching people how to train their own. The following video is just a taste of “what I preach.” In my opinion it is vital that you harvest the good in your young horse from the very start. I DO NOT believe in breaking colts down to get them started, rather we work on building confidence from the slightest spark of trust and fanning it into an uncontrolled fire. I also DO NOT like to train using smoke and mirrors. Everything I do, everything I say, everything I believe in is something that “if you put in the effort you will need no special gift to understand.”
